Experience

Jennifer provides advice and guidance to clients in relation to civil litigation matters; in particular, the interpretation of agreements and contracts, preparation of all documentation, and contractual disputes and mediation. 

She also has extensive knowledge of workplace relations and advises clients on all aspects of employment, including contracts, occupational health and safety, preparation of employment policies and terminations and unfair dismissals. 

Prior to joining Talbot Olivier, Jennifer acquired considerable experience as a workplace relations lawyer at Freehills'. She also worked at Sydney Crown Solicitors Office in torts and negligence and was a paralegal during the Thredbo landslide civil proceedings, one of Australia largest and longest running trials.

Career highlights

  • Represented a national mining and resources company against an international industry giant. The contractual OHS dispute was settled prior to trial via dispute resolution methods.
  • Advised a major insurance provider on the redrafting of numerous outsourced contracts, including human resources, information technology and investment management, for compliance with Prudential Standard GPS 231.
  • Acted for an international aviation client on proceedings brought against them it for unfair dismissal.
  • Represented the previous director of a property developer against his former employer in a contractual dispute where the agreed cost of acquiring the property increased after the contract was signed.

Admitted to practice: 2003. 

Qualifications: Masters of Corporate and Commercial Law, Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Arts (Journalism), Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. 

Memberships: Law Society of Western Australia, Australian Human Resources Institute, Industrial Relations Society of Western Australia, Australian Insurance Law Association. 

Publications/presentations: Jennifer contributes to employment law publications and Talbot Olivier's In Brief, and has written articles in the Safety Institute of Australia's journal Safety Matters.
