Experience 

Mark's career spans over 20 years. He advises on industrial disputes, litigation and complex workplace relation matters. Mark's client base includes individuals, companies and government departments in such diverse industries as aviation, telecommunications, construction and mining, energy and resources. Mark is highly-regarded in drafting and providing legislative advice to government bodies on regulatory and compliance issues. 

Immediately before joining Talbot Olivier in 2003, Mark practiced at the West Australian Bar. Prior to that he developed an enviable reputation in litigation and dispute resolution, (with a heavy emphasis on major civil litigation) as a partner at Mallesons' in Melbourne. 

Career highlights 

  • Regularly advises a WA statutory authority on various workplace relations issues including restructuring and redeployment, industrial grant regulations, redundancy, approach of public sector standards and permanency of public sector employment.
  • Represented an insurance broker in a high profile Supreme Court case who had resigned to work for a competitor.The client's previous employer claimed a breach of duty of good faith. The matter was settled after mediation.
  • Acted for an independent authority in revising south west and mid-west gas distribution system access arrangements.
  • Represented a mining and resources company in a high profile Supreme Court litigation which was seeking to obtain infrastructure access against the port authority.

Qualifications: Master of Laws, Bachelor of Law (Honours).
