Experience 

Carly is an experienced insurance lawyer who has acted for local, national and international insurers, insurance brokers, corporations, government and individuals. 

She has often acted as the instructing solicitor to trial Counsel, and provides advice to clients on a range of insurance law issues including potential claims, policy and statutory interpretation, liability, quantum, third party recoveries, claim management and settlement strategies. 

As a member of the workplace relations team, Carly also advises on equal opportunities and discrimination issues both in the work environment and more generally in the broader community. 

Carly is currently studying a Master of Arts in International Relations. 

Career highlights 

  • Providing legal opinions and advice on claim management, negotiating claim settlements at informal conferences and representation at conciliation and pre-trial conferences on behalf of several high-profile insurance providers.
  • Successfully acting as instructing counsel in a High Court appeal defending the plaintiff in a personal injury claim.
  • Advising and obtaining judgment for an agency proprietor with regard to termination of a co-director and the return of stolen property.
  • Advising a senior executive on a long-term contract of employment with recommendations as to mechanisms for resolution.
  • Advising and acting for quasi-government bodies in relation to complaints and allegations of unlawful discrimination in both the workplace and in the provision of services to the wider community.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Economics (International Finance & Monetary Markets).
